walk/home
2026 - ongoing
walk/home is a on-going project as part of Robson’s current research documenting parts of Glasgow and Edinburgh at night. Focusing in on narrow paths and dark corners of each city, she documents the places that can feel unsafe to walk through in the dark. These corners, however, can also have a peacefulness due to how quiet and secluded they can be.
As Robson thinks about hostile urban spaces, it branches out from solely physical design (ie. benches, spikes) to how hostility can exist in other forms throughout cities. However, just as the quietness and darkness that makes these areas seem unsafe to some, a growing number of women in Glasgow choose to sleep in places like these as they believe the housing provided to them to be more unsafe, highlighting a different way to see these spaces.
